A LIFE OF TOTAL COMMITMENT
Scripture Reading: 1Timothy 1:18 “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare;”
Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
When we look at the life of Apostle Paul the author of the epistles, we understand his passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ: He would often tell his companions in the Gospel, be not weary in well doing. Paul was willing to die for what he believed in. He was committed, and here we see him mentoring and advising Timothy, a young pastor, who is facing a heavy burden of responsibility in the Church at Ephesus. He tells him to
1. Keep false doctrine from infiltrating the Church.
2. to safe guard public worship.
3. To develop mature leadership in the Church: In other words he calls him to a life of commitment.
Anything that you want to do in this life takes commitment. Many people have gifts but are not committed. Commitment must be deeper than the gift. You were committed as a drug addict, you were committed as an alcoholic, you were committed to lying and stealing before you got saved. So what’s the problem when it comes to a loving God who brought you out of that dark place and healed your addiction: Does He deserve any less? We want to accomplish a lot of things but the best way to achieve your dreams and goals in this life spiritually and naturally is to dedicate our works to the Lord.
Proverbs 3:6 says, in all of our ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy path, so everything in His strength He will make it easier for you. God is committed to keep what’s offered up to Him.
In Romans 12:1 it tells us to present our bodies to the Lord and put all of our energy and resources at His disposal, trusting in Him to guide us in this crazy mixed up world.
WE SERVE the greatest champion of all times, Jesus Christ the son of the living God.
Psalms 37:5 says, COMMIT thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to past and the 7th verse says, REST in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Following Christ takes commitment, devotion and sacrifice, but many of us want a spiritual growth plan that takes 15 minutes and a microwave god. We need to understand, serving God is not a gamble it's a choice. We have a choice to live a Holy life and we have a choice to trust Him or not.
Jeremiah 21:8 says, I have set before you the way of life and the way of death. You choose.
THE CALL TO TOTAL COMMITMENT.
How many times have you heard people make commitments to God and before the people of God and in a matter of days sometimes hours, the fire of their faith has fizzled out. Why? Because of the lack of commitment. The key to commitment is Love.
1John 4:19-20 "We love Him because He first loved us".
God Bless You!
