THE PEACE OF GOD
Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God”.

The Peace of the Believer
In the sermon on the mount Jesus gives the beatitudes: The traits He was looking for In His followers which is a direct contradiction to societies typical way of living, but of course we know the way of Jesus Christ is not typical:  He’s God all by Himself and beside Him there is no other.

So the Bible is not quiet when it comes to the subject of peace. 2 Colossians 3:15 says let the peace of God rule, be the umpire in our hearts.

When our future looks dim and circumstances crowds our way, we need the kind of peace that surpasses our finite understanding.

1.     Peace that comes from knowing God is in control of our lives.
2.     Peace in knowing our citizenship in Heaven is sure.
3.     Peace in knowing our destiny is set.
4.     Peace in knowing our victory over sin is certain because of our Love for Jesus.

You can’t be at peace with God and at war with your Brother or Sister in the Faith.  As believers we have to cultivate peace. To cultivate means to improve, process and fertilize through prayer.

Psalms 120:7
says “I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war”.  In other words peacemaking is not always popular, because some people Love to fight even when they know they are wrong, because they want to have their way.  It’s called selfishness.  The book of Isaiah is a prophetic message of hope.

Isaiah 1:18-20 says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it”.

Romans 12:18 is the core of Christian living:  It says “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men”.  What’s in you, can help you are ruin you!

When you have experienced the grace of God in your life, you want to pass it along to someone else.

When you hold a grudge against somebody, you are not hurting them, you are hurting yourself.

Hebrew 12:14 says “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

This is a big deal:  Wake up!  When you are a child of God you can’t pick and choose who you Love, you have to Love everybody. (Selah)

You can’t be with everybody, but you have to Love them, as Jesus did.

Mark 9:50
says “Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it?  Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another”.  We all know meat without a little salt is bland.  Salt makes a difference doesn’t it?

So, if we are the salt of the earth, why don’t we have the intestinal fortitude to do what’s right?  That’s what a good steward is all about and that’s what keeping peace is all about.  You can’t be loyal to God and the devil at the same time.

I use to smoke as I drank my coffee or a coke and I would blow the smoke and make a circle and after a while it would disappear.  There are people in the body of Christ; all they have is a mouth full of smoke and no fire to burn the foolishness out of them.

Psalms 34:14
lets us know, God is looking for proof producers:  Scripture says, “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”  Find ways to bring peace into a chaotic situation.  The life of a Christian is more than sitting quietly in Church listening to somebody preach.  When you are wrong and a brother or sister try to correct you, don’t get angry:  Embrace it and learn from it.  Follow peace.  We all need to cry out, peace, peace, peace I need you!

Esther 10:3  Mordecai found favor in the eyes of King Ahasuerus and was promoted because he was respected among the people.  He bought peace among his Jewish brothers and sisters and was a great inspiration to Esther in becoming Queen and a great deliver of her people.

Christian and Christian leaders promote oneness and peace:  The things that make you Spiritual are how you handle adverse situation and by speaking peace in stormy situations.

Ephesians 4:1-6 reads, “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit to the bond of peace.  4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all”.

God Bless You!
