Understanding Your Purpose
Proverbs 20:18; Daniel 6:17; Romans 8:28
 I.                    As Christians we need to say what we mean and mean what we say:  Why do I say this?  You may forget what you say but others won’t.
II.                 I am called by God to promote the name of Jesus and to effect change.  I can only effect change by being transparent.   You can’t turn this thing on and off.
 A.     Serving God is not a fantasy.  It is an act of the will to do what is right, even if it hurts you.
 B.     As a child of God, you have an obligation to reach out to the young, old and afflicted.  Those of you who serve in any capacity as leaders – worship leaders, ushers, teachers, deacons – Children of God you need to understand that.
III.             Leadership is not a position; it is a function.  Nobody wants to know how much you know; they want to know how much you care.  It takes humility to care about others.
 A.     Luke 12:48 says – to whom much is given, much is required.
 B.     Matthew Chapter 18 reports that the disciples came to Jesus asking who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven (vs. 2).  Jesus called a little child and set him in the midst of them (vs. 3) and said except you be converted and become as little children, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.  (But who is the greatest?)  (vs. 4) says whosoever shall humble himself as a little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
*There is a call to serve in the Body of Christ.  It takes humility to serve.
IV.              Jesus came in on a donkey to teach us how to work as a Christian. Not that you need to ride a donkey, but you understand the lesson; the student cannot override the teacher.
 A.    I am a student with a purpose and a plan implanted in the womb of my spirit to function as a leader.  This means I cannot lead if I cannot be led.
 B.    John 7:38 tells us he that believeth in me as the Scriptures hath said out of his belly shall flow a constant flow of principles of God, called living waters.
 C.   Ephesians 4:11 says God has given us the five fold ministry for the perfecting of the saints.  God will perfect those things concerning you.
*Heaven is a place for overcomers.  If you don’t overcome your stuff, you will not make it in.  You can’t just talk; you have to walk the walk.
 V.                 Matthew 24:12 says in the last days iniquity shall abound and the love of many has waxed cold.
 A.    Whatever is going on in your life that is not of God, get rid of it.
 B.     You see the world is poking fun at us now. But pretty soon, you will see them running to you for answers.  You must be prepared to give an answer.
 C.     Don’t get weary in well doing.  Don’t get frustrated going through the fiery furnace of life. Just be proud you are a child of God.
 God Bless You!!!
