In order for Sunday school to remain effective in the 21st century, the Church must both reaffirm and retain. Sunday School is a place for us to sense our belonging as God’s children and to grow in the knowledge of God’s love. It is a place where we use and discover our gifts as we learn how to be Christian disciples. God consistently reinforces certain things in our spirit. He lets us know that we too can get to know Him on an intimate level. He wants us to know that He will speak to us just as He spoke to Abraham and Isaac. He has made us promises just as He did them He will bless us abundantly just as He did them. However, lesson after lesson He shows us that we must be obedient to His word if we want to be partakers of the blessings (Deuteronomy 28). He shows us in the book of Genesis that anytime there was an act of disobedience there was a price that had to be paid and with obedience the blessings of God always come through. As God’s children we are called to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through life long learning. The purpose for Sunday school is to nurture faith and to support each other as disciples. It is only one of many opportunities for fostering faith that extend from the church to the Home and into the community. May God touch on your heart and mind. May He move you to come out to join the saints in our study of His Word. As this invitation is sent to one and all, we look forward to seeing you here in Jesus’ name….
